BayWa r.e. secures Corriegarth 2 approval with ERM and restores 100 hectares of peatland

The renewable energy company BayWa r.e. sought to expand the Corriegarth wind farm in Scotland but needed government consent for a site near sensitive landscapes. They hired Environmental Resources Management (ERM) to prepare a thorough Environmental Impact Assessment and develop a consenting strategy to mitigate risks and secure approval.

Environmental Resources Management conducted the comprehensive EIA, managed stakeholder engagement, and helped negotiate a landmark habitat restoration plan. The Corriegarth 2 Wind Farm was approved in late 2023. The project will restore 100 hectares of peatland, generate annual funding for golden eagle conservation, create a £10 million community fund, and supply renewable energy to nearly 50,000 homes.
