A Environmental Resources Management (ERM) Case Study
The customer, a confidential client operating an active industrial facility, faced the challenge of remediating chlorinated solvents in fractured bedrock. The originally proposed pump-and-treat system was projected to cost $12M USD and take up to 10 years to operate. The client engaged vendor Environmental Resources Management (ERM) to find a more cost-effective and efficient solution.
ERM implemented a High Resolution Site Characterization program to redefine the contamination and then applied innovative in-situ thermal and biological remediation approaches. This solution, completed for $3M USD within 18 months, reduced project costs by an order of magnitude and significantly lowered the carbon footprint compared to the original plan. ERM's work won the UK Brownfield Briefing Award for ‘Best In-Situ Technology’.
