State Employees Credit Union - Customer Case Study

State Employees Credit Union (SECU), based in Raleigh, North Carolina, is a large nonprofit financial cooperative serving more than 1.3 million members. As concerns grew that its member identification process was too intrusive after the PATRIOT Act, SECU turned to Entrust for a more secure, privacy-conscious way to verify members while improving service at the teller line.

Entrust’s solution enabled SECU to issue member ID cards and add photos and signatures to credit and debit cards using Datacard CP60 card printers, ID Works Enterprise software, Tru Photo, Tru Signature, and ViaNet identity information software. The rollout across all 200 branches improved fraud prevention, sped up transactions, and reduced the need for members to share sensitive information such as Social Security numbers or account numbers, with overwhelmingly positive feedback from members, branches, and merchants.
