IdentiSys Inc., an Eden Prairie, Minnesota provider of identification, security, and tracking solutions, partnered with Entrust to help a state Department of Corrections replace an aging ID card printer that was no longer supported and causing maintenance issues. The customer needed a more affordable way to issue secure cards across about 14 institutions while reducing the cost and complexity of custom laminates and improving protection against counterfeiting.

Entrust implemented the Datacard CD800 Card Printer with Inline Lamination Module, giving the facility inline personalization, a custom hologram, and a tactile impression feature that physically alters the card for easier visual and tactile authentication. The solution lowered issuance costs, improved security, and created a distinctive card that stakeholders and cardholders valued; the facility now produces cards weekly, averaging 60 to 80 cards, and reported the system as a win-win for affordability and fraud prevention.
