Identificación Plástica - Customer Case Study

Identificación Plástica, a leading Colombian identification technology provider, worked with the Colombian government to modernize its passport program and move from paper booklets to secure e-passports. The challenge was to create a highly secure, verifiable document that would help citizens travel more easily while meeting complex government and international requirements.

Entrust helped deliver the solution through the Datacard PB6500 Passport Issuance System and Entrust Authority PKI as part of a consortium with Thomas Greg & Sons and 3M Colombia. The new infrastructure enabled Colombia to become the first country in the Americas with an EAC passport, increased throughput by 30% to meet demand for about 100,000 passports per month, and allowed passports to be issued within 24 hours.
