Caruana Financeira, a Brazilian financial institution focused on the passenger transportation market, needed a way to serve financially excluded consumers with an instant, compliant card issuance process. Working with Entrust, the company set out to deliver a single hybrid card that could function as both a financial card and a transit payment card, while meeting strict KYC, security, and payment network requirements.

Entrust implemented Datacard CardWizard Instant Issuance software with the Datacard CR500 instant issuance system, enabling secure in-branch, on-demand card personalization and issuance. The result was a dramatic reduction in turnaround time from three weeks to just 10–15 minutes, with Caruana producing up to 3,000 cards per month and seeing penetration rise from 15% to 40%, activation from 45% to 90%, and card usage from 60% to 80%.
