Alflexim, a distributor of Datacard solutions in Eastern Europe, supported the Albanian government as it sought to modernize its national ID and passport program. The challenge was to move from a paper-based system to more secure, machine-readable electronic documents, while also improving efficiency across more than 400 service centers and reducing delays, errors, and fraud.

Entrust implemented a centralized enrollment and issuance solution using the Datacard MX6000 card issuance system, PB6500 passport issuance system, and Affina Personalization Manager software, along with a five-year maintenance and support contract. The result was a highly secure, efficient ID program with laser-engraved e-Passports and national ID cards, and Albania issued more than 1.5 million national ID cards in the first year, with over 3 million projected within five years.
