Abanca Bank, headquartered in Galicia, Spain, wanted to improve the in-branch customer experience by giving customers instant access to permanent credit, debit, and prepaid cards instead of making them wait for cards to arrive by mail. To address this challenge, the bank worked with Entrust Datacard and its instant issuance technology, including Datacard CardWizard issuance software and Datacard CE870 systems.

Entrust Datacard implemented an end-to-end instant issuance solution integrated with Abanca Bank’s card management system, enabling the bank to issue six types of Visa and MasterCard-branded cards directly in branch. As a result, Abanca eliminated the typical 3–4 day mailing delay, improved customer satisfaction, and gained greater cost efficiency and profitability. The bank also strengthened its market position as a leader in Spain’s competitive banking sector.
