Pierpont Management, a Salt Lake City–based property manager partnered with the Romney Group that oversees about 2,300 units across the South and Midwest, faced mounting liability and repair costs after several resident-caused incidents (a meth unit at ~$12,000, a flood at ~$7,000 and a fire up to ~$25,000). Those losses were made worse by a $50,000 annual property deductible and a widespread lack of renters insurance—industry data showed about 90% of residents skip coverage—leaving Pierpont exposed and seeking a scalable solution.
Pierpont implemented ResidentInsure, added lease requirements for proof of renters insurance, and trained leasing staff to explain options; policies are reported automatically to management and residents can enroll via the program or bring external coverage. Within 12 months properties more than doubled coverage rates (from about 10% industry average to ~26%), adoption became near-universal, manager workload dropped, resident communication improved, and Pierpont has had greater protection and no claims since the rollout.
