How Danish municipalities cut energy use by 12.5%

Kommunernes Landsforening (Local Government Denmark), the association representing all Danish municipalities, needed to urgently evaluate the effectiveness of energy conservation measures enacted in response to the 2022 energy crisis. They partnered with Ento to accurately measure the impact of these strategies across a vast portfolio of 74 municipalities and over 9,000 buildings.

Ento utilized its scalable analytics platform to conduct the measurement, employing a machine learning model following the International Performance Measurement and Verification Protocol (IPMVP). The analysis verified that the initiatives resulted in a 12.5% reduction in electricity consumption, saving 33.98 GWh of energy. This achievement equaled financial savings of over 11 million Euro and a reduction of 4,085 tons of CO2, providing a validated blueprint for future energy efficiency efforts.
