A EnterpriseDB Case Study
An East Coast state government faced major challenges after building its health insurance exchange on IBM DB2 under tight deadlines and later planning a statewide cloud data repository to consolidate multiple agencies. The teams needed to migrate legacy systems (just over 1 TB of DB2 data), remove data silos, support disparate formats and applications, and meet strict HIPAA and other government security requirements—capabilities they found lacking in community PostgreSQL.
They adopted the EDB Postgres Platform, using EDB’s migration toolkit and expert support to move the data and modernize the stack, and relied on EDB Postgres Advanced Server’s enterprise security (backed by a DoD STIG) to meet compliance needs. The result was a flexible, open-source–based cloud repository with multi-model and FDW integration, stronger auditing and protection features, and deployment options (on-prem, cloud, bare metal) that enabled consolidation, interoperability, and reduced migration risk.
