ISAO Corporation, a Toyota Tsusho subsidiary that develops digital-content and payment-processing solutions, experienced a critical logic failure in its payment system in 2013. The outage exposed reliability and security gaps and pushed the company to adopt a high-performance, open-source–based DBMS that could handle large data volumes, membership and points processing, and strict uptime requirements.

ISAO chose EDB Postgres and partnered with Fujitsu Social Science Laboratories and Fujitsu Marketing to implement a three‑phase program—tightening backups, redesigning application architecture, and building redundant disaster‑recovery/high‑availability infrastructure. The rebuild delivered instant‑restore capability, shorter recovery and migration times, improved reliability and security, lower total cost of ownership, and an ongoing partnership to support future service expansion.
