Global Leader ABN AMRO Clearing Upgrades System to EDB Postgres

ABN AMRO Clearing, a global leader in derivatives and equity clearing operating from 12 locations and handling millions of trades daily, needed to reduce data center costs, avoid vendor lock‑in, and meet strict availability requirements (99.97%) while supporting rapidly growing applications and regulatory reporting. Relying on community PostgreSQL without enterprise support or advanced tooling also limited its ability to modernize legacy systems.

The firm migrated key systems to EDB Postgres Advanced Server (beginning with a 2011 migration during a hardware refresh), then expanded the platform to additional applications including a transactional trade capture system, enabling support for 6–10 million transactions per day. The move delivered lower operating costs, enterprise-grade support, monitoring and Oracle compatibility, and provided the scalability and reliability needed for new risk‑calculation and high‑performance client portals.
