Ericsson Integrates EDB Postgres to Increase Performance and Lower Costs

Ericsson, a global leader in TV & Media platforms, needed its Content Management System to handle rapidly growing on-demand video and metadata workloads. Their legacy database could not keep pace with rising transaction volumes, and simply scaling the old system would have driven up costly licensing and maintenance fees.

As part of a re-architecture, Ericsson migrated to EDB Postgres, leveraging its compatibility to avoid major application refactoring and reuse existing skills and tools. The new Linux-based system now supports 11 million titles and 3 million work orders, doubled title ingestion from 5 to 11 titles per minute, and delivered higher performance, scalability and lower operational costs for production deployments.
