Daiwa Institute of Research Business Innovation Powers Energy System on EDB Postgres

Daiwa Institute of Research (DIR) Business Innovation, a systems integrator and think tank in Japan, needed to build a commercial Energy Management System (EMS) that could handle massive, real‑time data flows and provide enterprise‑grade reliability while keeping costs down during its startup phase. The EMS required the scale and uptime of social‑media‑style infrastructure, support for future integrations, and vendor support—constraints that made a pure open‑source database unattractive.

DIR selected EDB Postgres, supported by partner Ashisuto, to deliver Oracle‑compatible, enterprise PostgreSQL at a fraction of traditional database costs. The solution has reliably processed data from tens of thousands of endpoints (with updates as frequent as once per minute) and about 2.7 million authentications with no performance issues, and it positions DIR to expand the EMS into broader IoT use cases and emerging Asian markets on a cost‑effective subscription basis.
