The city of San Marcos Reduces Costs by 27%

The City of San Marcos, a municipality in California with a 90-vehicle fleet, was facing rising repair and maintenance costs as about half of its vehicles had exceeded their useful life. Budget constraints made it difficult to replace aging vehicles, and frequent downtime was hurting city operations. Enterprise Fleet Management helped address the challenge with a fleet management and leasing solution.

Enterprise Fleet Management evaluated the full fleet, removed 10 under-utilized vehicles from service, and used an open-ended lease structure with a Full Maintenance Program to replace the remaining vehicles over three years without a large upfront capital outlay. The result was a 27% decrease in light-duty fleet costs and an estimated $1.1 million in combined savings over five years, while also right-sizing the fleet by 10% and improving flexibility for ongoing city needs.
