A Enterprise Fleet Management Case Study
Kern County, a local government in Bakersfield, California, managed a fleet of 350 vehicles for general and behavioral health services, but aging vehicles and years of budget cuts left the county facing high maintenance and repair costs. Enterprise Fleet Management helped the county explore an equity lease approach to better manage total cost of ownership and replace its aging fleet without requiring large upfront capital.
Enterprise Fleet Management implemented a leasing and fleet cycling program that allowed Kern County to identify and replace 111 vehicles, take advantage of volume purchasing discounts, and use a broad network of repair shops for faster maintenance. The county expects to save $2 million versus its previous county-run model, is saving 85% per month through Enterprise’s maintenance plan, and also reported over 24% in savings plus a 17% reduction in fuel expenses.
