Global data and risk analytics provider modernizes and migrates mainframe applications to public cloud (AWS)

Global Data and Risk Analytics Provider, a global data and risk analytics company serving insurance, energy, specialized markets, and financial services, needed to move critical mainframe applications off legacy systems. The goal was to reduce risk from shrinking mainframe skill availability, lower costs, and modernize code so it could be maintained and evolved in the future.

Ensono helped by creating a rapid proof of concept and using the ExperThink™ toolchain to automate migration from COBOL, Db2, and Model 204 to Java, C#, and Postgres on AWS. Ensono moved business-critical workloads, including the client’s largest mainframe CPU-consuming application, to the public cloud; as a result, 2/3 of workload MIPS were migrated off the mainframe, over 3,000 COBOL programs and 700 Model 204 artifacts were converted, and the client was left better positioned to maintain applications going forward.
