Syracuse University Uses Ensemble Video to Transform College of Law Curriculum

Syracuse University College of Law needed a way to manage growing volumes of video and rich media—recorded lectures, presentations and student submissions—and to integrate that media into the curriculum so students could access materials anytime, on any device. With limited off-the-shelf options in 2007, the College sought a dedicated solution to streamline production, distribution and access for faculty and students.

Beginning in 2008 the College deployed a self-hosted Ensemble Video platform managed by its AV consultant, creating a central media repository integrated with Blackboard and automated workflows. The system now supports on-demand access across devices, enables remote collaboration and review, handles over 400 uploads annually, serves about 800 students and 85+ faculty/administrators, has improved student learning (for example, Bluebook citation tutorials), and is being expanded for captioning and lecture-capture integration.
