Ensemble Video Empowers a K-‐12 Consortium in Central New York

The Central New York Regional Information Center (CNYRIC) supports 50 school districts and 4 BOCES across eight counties and needed a secure, user-friendly way for teachers to upload, manage and share educational videos (students could not access public sites like YouTube/Vimeo). Key requirements included Blackboard and Cisco videoconferencing integration, compatibility with multiple recording tools, fast upload/publishing, and a platform that could scale across the consortium while enabling teacher professional development.

CNYRIC self-hosted Ensemble Video on its fiber WAN to meet those needs, giving districts a single, integrated solution with features like chapter points, dropboxes for student submissions, and Blackboard building blocks. The rollout included “Lunch and Learns” and responsive support; today nearly 700 users manage about 15,000 videos used for flipped classrooms, ASL and collaborative projects, streamed board meetings, and online PD—improving access, engagement and teacher adoption across the region.
