A Enlighted Case Study
AT&T, pursuing a corporate goal to cut its carbon footprint 20% by 2020, launched an Energy Scorecard to introduce metrics and accountability across its portfolio and targeted its largest energy-consuming sites for deeper efficiency. In 2013 the energy team sought IoT/M2M solutions to intelligently reduce kilowatt-hour consumption across hundreds of properties and evaluated smart lighting vendors to meet those goals.
AT&T selected Enlighted’s per-fixture advanced sensors and LED retrofit, deployed initially across 240 properties (about 20 million sq ft), using Enlighted’s GEO financing so upgrades were paid from guaranteed energy savings. The granular sensor-controlled lighting system delivered immediate, verifiable savings of roughly $8 million per year for the initial rollout, with a projected 195 GWh reduction and an estimated $200 million in savings over 10 years, and earned Enlighted an AT&T Supplier Sustainability award.
