Agilent Technologies Lighting the Path to Energy Efficiency

Agilent Technologies’ Roseville facility sought to reduce its environmental footprint and operating costs by targeting lighting across its 50,000 sq ft of offices and labs, where an old system of 14 large zones often left the entire space illuminated unnecessarily. Facility manager Lewis Meline needed a flexible, programmable solution to cut wasted energy and lower maintenance expenses.

Agilent installed Enlighted’s control system — updating more than 400 fixtures with motion sensors, dimming ballasts, daylight harvesting and an energy-management platform to create hundreds of smaller controllable zones. The retrofit delivered an average 58% lighting energy savings (about 20% cost reduction on weekdays and >90% on weekends), an 8 kW peak demand drop, over 100,000 kWh saved annually, roughly 25% lower maintenance costs, and a payback period under 24 months on a ~$70,000 project (with a $4,800 utility incentive).
