illy Shop serves 3,000 personalized coffees with Enhancers

The illy Shop worked with Enhancers to create a solution that would allow coffee lovers to craft their own perfect espresso blend. The challenge was to develop an intelligent, real-time system for personalized coffee creation that could be used in a bar setting.

Enhancers implemented an IoT solution featuring an intelligent grinding machine controlled by a tablet application for baristas and a mobile app for user customization. Built with Xamarin and the MQTT protocol, the system was successfully tested at EXPO 2015, serving over 3000 personalized coffees. Enhancers delivered one of the first IoT applications for the HORECA industry, anticipating major trends in user self-care and intelligent consumption management.
