Retailer Reduces Energy Spend with Continuous Monitoring

Canadian Retailing Company, a Canadian retailer of men’s and women’s clothing, was under pressure to reduce energy costs across its stores. Working with ENGIE Insight, the company sought a solution that could be tested first to ensure the payback was strong before expanding it across the portfolio.

ENGIE Insight used energy analytics and Proactive Monitoring to analyze store energy intensity, identify high-usage locations, and set operating parameters for HVAC and lighting systems. In the pilot, energy use fell nearly 11% in the first month, with one store cutting usage by more than 21%; over 12 months, the retailer achieved a 12.76% reduction in energy spend and has since reduced consumption by almost 14%, saving nearly $100,000.
