Jack in the Box - Customer Case Study

Jack in the Box, a $2.9 billion quick-service and fast-casual restaurant chain, needed a better way to manage waste across its 1,436 corporate stores and 1,372 unique waste accounts. Its internal accounts payable team struggled to audit bills, confirm services, identify haulers, and avoid late fees while keeping waste costs under control. Jack in the Box turned to ENGIE Insight for waste management support and billing error identification, building on an existing partnership for energy and utility management.

ENGIE Insight centralized Jack in the Box’s waste billing data, reviewed invoices for errors, and provided reporting through the ENGIE Insight Platform so the company could compare locations and right-size services. The new process reduced service interruptions and late fees, improved budgeting and forecasting, and helped the company remove unnecessary service levels, including one change that saved $560 per month at a single site. Overall, ENGIE Insight’s waste management program has helped Jack in the Box save more than $400,000 to date while also reducing unnecessary truck visits and related emissions.
