Case Study: Blue River Technology achieves 9x faster builds with EngFlow Remote Execution

A EngFlow Case Study

Preview of the Blue River Technology Case Study

Blue River Technology builds with EngFlow Remote Execution are 9 times faster. Developers can now share specialized hardware at scale

Blue River Technology, a subsidiary of John Deere, develops intelligent agricultural machinery with a complex build environment that includes embedded systems, custom ARM64 hardware, and GPUs. As their Bazel builds grew slower and more flaky, teams were stuck with multi-hour builds that sometimes failed or took up to 8 hours, limiting developer throughput. EngFlow helped them address these challenges with its Remote Execution platform.

With EngFlow Remote Execution, Blue River Technology’s builds became stable and much faster, dropping from 3 hours to 20 minutes—a 9x improvement. EngFlow also helped them eliminate the need to maintain a second ARM64 toolchain, enable cross-compiled tests, upgrade storage to NVMe, and keep Bazel servers warm. The result was less infrastructure maintenance, lower hardware costs, and better utilization of shared specialized hardware.
