Engagis helps Darwin become a smart city with new interactive kiosks

City of Darwin engaged Engagis to support its $10M “Switching on Darwin” smart city program, which aims to deliver a data-driven, people-focused strategy to improve community life, safety, environmental sustainability and local government services. The City of Darwin needed an intuitive public wayfinding and engagement solution to help residents and visitors navigate the city, discover events and businesses, and connect with other smart-city services.

Engagis built a customised wayfinding kiosk solution on the Engagis Compass platform, featuring a digital human concierge, maps showing free Wi‑Fi and routes (pedestrian and vehicle), searchable points of interest, Instagram photo uploads and competitions, “What’s On” event listings, live temperature/time, and QR-code transfer of maps to phones. The kiosks have enhanced visitor and local experiences, promoted businesses, increased public engagement with events and social channels, and are being expanded as Engagis works with the City of Darwin on a second release to integrate with other smart-city functionality.
