The City of Newcastle set out to become a smarter city by improving wayfinding, visitor information and visible public-facing technology to boost amenity and encourage exploration. To support this, Engagis supplied two 55" portrait interactive wayfinding kiosks (smart screens) to help locals and visitors find attractions, events and navigate the city while complementing the existing visitor centre.

Engagis installed the two touchscreen kiosks at the visitor centre near Civic Station/Museum Park and at Market Street lawn, enabling filtered searches by category, displaying “what’s on” and local history content, and deliberately excluding third‑party ads. The Engagis solution delivered highly visible, intuitive self-service access to city information, complemented the visitor centre outside staffed hours, and formed a tangible element of Newcastle’s award‑winning smart city program (Smart Cities Awards 2019).
