The MS Society, a UK charity supporting those with multiple sclerosis, faced the challenge of building public and parliamentary support to legalize cannabis for medicinal use to help manage MS symptoms. They partnered with the vendor Engaging Networks to launch a digital campaign that would empower their community to take action and influence legislators.
Engaging Networks helped implement a solution that included a social media campaign urging people to tweet their MPs and an email action for subscribers. The campaign generated significant engagement, including the charity's most-retweeted post of 2017 and over 1,970 emails sent to MPs. This public pressure contributed to the successful outcome: in November 2018, the UK government rescheduled cannabis-derived products, making them legal for specialists to prescribe. Engaging Networks provided the platform that helped the MS Society mobilize its supporters effectively.
