Sally Beauty Holdings, a leading cosmetics retailer with nearly $4 billion in sales, 30,000 associates and 5,000 stores worldwide, faced industry disruption and changing customer expectations that made associate engagement a strategic priority. To better understand and improve engagement across corporate, distribution and store teams, Sally Beauty Holdings selected Engage2Excel and its RESPECT survey platform (by Jack Wiley, Ph.D.) to measure seven engagement dimensions and pinpoint drivers of performance.

Engage2Excel administered the RESPECT survey across the company’s U.S. operations in November 2016, uncovering strong team cohesion and pride as well as three priority gaps—performance-based compensation, education and career growth, and two-way communication. Using Engage2Excel’s insights, managers created action plans and now report regular progress; the initiative has produced greater transparency and more meaningful dialogue, helping Sally Beauty Holdings move toward a talent-driven enterprise.
