Pacific Gas & Electric Company faced inefficiencies from managing a large, diverse portfolio of remediation and decommissioning projects across multiple disparate systems, with workflows for accrual tracking, planning cycles, and decision documentation not integrated into a single platform. To address these challenges PG&E selected ENFOS in 2007 as its Accruals Information Management System, deploying the ENFOS Environmental Business Management solution (Financials and Core System) to centralize project, financial and compliance information.
ENFOS implemented modules including Portfolio/Hierarchy Manager, Planning and Decision Support Packages, Document Management, and Cost/Journal Entry Capture, and integrated ENFOS with PG&E’s SAP ERP to exchange expenditures and journal entries in real time. As a result ENFOS delivered a single business solution that eliminated legacy systems and redundant processes, provided real-time access to project data and reserve balances, automated lifecycle cash‑flow forecasting and accrual adjustments, and improved transparency, decision support and auditability of environmental liabilities and cost recoveries.
