A EnergyPrint Case Study
Wellington Management, which owns and manages a $400 million portfolio of more than 100 properties in the Twin Cities, used utility benchmarking from EnergyPrint to diagnose higher-than-average operating costs. Benchmarking revealed that Court West, a 55,000 sq ft, six-level office building, was costing $2.29 per sq ft for electricity and gas—significantly above comparable properties—indicating inefficient heating and cooling systems.
Using EnergyPrint’s Utility Dashboard and weather-normalized data, Wellington quickly prioritized and implemented low-cost operational fixes (adjusted controls, turned off boilers in summer), tracked changes in the Property Energy Journal, and verified results. With EnergyPrint’s tools they reduced energy costs from $2.29 to $1.65 per sq ft, saved more than $35,000 annually, cut consumption by about 25%, and identified three additional high-use properties for further savings; Wellington now shares EnergyPrint service costs among tenants.
