A EnergyCAP Case Study
Southeastern Freight Lines, a 64‑year‑old less‑than‑truckload carrier known for its "Quality without Question" motto, needed a data‑driven way to manage utility costs across its dozens of regional facilities. Without a centralized system to check rates, track historical usage, and audit invoices for its 82–83 hubs, invoice errors, inconsistent billing practices, and untrained local staff made accurate energy management nearly impossible. Southeastern Freight Lines engaged EnergyCAP’s energy management software to provide the centralized tracking and analysis it lacked.
EnergyCAP centralized invoice routing and meter/data capture so one trained staff member could review charges against account histories, enabling SEFL to monitor 114 buildings and 1,420 meters and spot anomalies quickly. Using EnergyCAP, SEFL nearly eliminated late fees ($20,000–$30,000/year), identified a faulty electric meter that produced a $78,000 refund (and saved enough in two months to pay for the software), uncovered long‑running water loss and unauthorized use, and evaluated retrofit ROI (typically 20–22%), producing tens of thousands of dollars in verified savings.
