SuperValu Hacketstown, a community SuperValu store in Hacketstown, Co. Carlow (part of the Musgrave Group), was preparing an energy-efficiency revamp but faced rising energy costs and needed an accurate before-and-after picture to plan and verify savings. To benchmark consumption and identify wastage, the store engaged EnergyCAP to provide an energy management and monitoring solution.

EnergyCAP installed an energy management system to identify major electricity consumers and support targeted upgrades—new AHT freezer units, an efficient refrigeration pack, EC fans, LED canopy lights, Weir glass, and store-wide LED fittings. Using EnergyCAP’s online dashboard, alerts and tailored reports, SuperValu Hacketstown measured substantial savings: some lighting groups cut energy use by up to 65% and refrigeration energy dropped about 68% (refrigeration daily cost fell from €22.35 to €7.05, −68.46%), delivering real-time visibility and significantly reduced electrical wastage.
