LCPS sought a software solution that would help them track their energy usage and improve sustainability

Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS), one of the fastest‑growing U.S. school districts with 98 facilities and more than 11 million sq ft, faced the challenge of tracking and reducing utility costs across a complex portfolio of meters and sites. To establish verifiable baselines and manage energy across the district, LCPS implemented energy tracking software early on (FASER) and today uses EnergyCAP Professional Online from EnergyCAP to centralize meter data, benchmarking and reporting.

Using EnergyCAP’s metering, benchmarking and reporting tools, LCPS performed meter audits, identified billing errors and leaks, and targeted behavior‑based and operational changes that reduced consumption. EnergyCAP’s reports helped drive immediate and sustained savings—LCPS documented $891,210 in utility cost avoidance (28.9%) in the first full year of the program and has achieved over $64 million in expected utility cost savings over two decades, with 62 schools earning ENERGY STAR recognition.
