The International District Energy Association (IDEA) needed a tool to launch a comprehensive carbon accounting initiative, known as the Carbon Count, to track and demonstrate its members' progress toward decarbonization. The challenge was to create a flexible reporting process for over 2,500 members who were at vastly different stages of their sustainability journey.

EnergyCAP implemented its CarbonHub solution to provide a central, user-friendly platform for data submission and aggregation. The flexibility of EnergyCAP's tool allowed IDEA to accommodate members with any level of carbon accounting expertise, from beginners to those with robust reporting protocols. This enabled IDEA to effectively aggregate and anonymize data to showcase the district energy industry's carbon mitigation results and progress toward net-zero goals.
