Direct Control needed a solution for its client, Auckland University of Technology, to help identify energy inefficiencies and monitor energy consumption

Auckland University of Technology partnered with EnergyCAP after a system control specialist needed a cloud-based energy analytics solution to identify energy inefficiencies and monitor consumption. The project used EnergyCAP SmartAnalytics, including real-time energy analytics, an energy monitoring dashboard, and benchmarking, integrated with the existing LoRaWAN IoT sensor platform at AUT’s WO building.

EnergyCAP helped the team analyze building performance, detect HVAC and BMS control issues, and verify savings through its IPMVP M&V tool. After implementing measures such as AHU setpoint adjustments and equipment replacement, AUT achieved an 18% reduction in energy use, NZ$32,725 in annual cost savings, and a 7.85-year payback period, exceeding the original 10% savings target.
