A EnergyCAP Case Study
The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, a large and decentralized state government, faced the significant challenge of managing utility data across its vast portfolio of facilities to meet ambitious energy reduction goals. With utility bills processed independently by various agencies, the state lacked a centralized system to track consumption and costs, making effective energy management impossible. In response to an executive order, they sought a feature-rich enterprise solution and selected EnergyCAP UtilityManagement and the complementary Bill CAPture service.
EnergyCAP implemented its software and bill processing service to centralize utility data, automate audits, and flag billing errors. This solution provided the Commonwealth with the tools to accurately measure and manage its energy use. The results were substantial, including a 6.2% reduction in statewide energy consumption, the identification of over $885,000 in refunds and cost reductions, and the discovery of more than 2,300 previously unmanaged meters. EnergyCAP provided the foundation for the state's successful sustainability program.
