Ritenour School District Invests in Energy with Ameren Missouri’s Demand Response Program

Ritenour School District, one of the oldest districts in the St. Louis area serving more than 6,300 students across 10 schools and other facilities, was looking for ways to reduce energy spend and free up more money for operations and repairs. The district partnered with Enel X after being contacted about a demand response opportunity through Ameren Missouri’s Business Demand Response program.

Enel X implemented a demand response solution that curtails energy use during grid stress events by adjusting HVAC settings and turning off lights, with little disruption to school operations. The program delivered payments to the district for reducing demand, helping offset utility costs, support HVAC repairs and efficiency upgrades, and reinforce the district’s environmental goals while contributing to a more reliable electric grid.
