Massachusetts Dept. of Energy Resources Deploys Enel X’s Energy Intelligence Software State-wide to Eliminate Waste, Drive Down Costs, and Lead by Example

Fitchburg State University, part of the Massachusetts public higher-education system, needed better visibility into campus energy use to move beyond delayed, aggregated utility bills and identify where energy was being wasted. Working with Enel X and its SaaS-based energy intelligence software platform, the university could compare building performance and uncover issues that were affecting efficiency and costs.

Enel X helped Fitchburg State University detect a conflict between the Mazzaferro Center’s HVAC and building controls systems, leading to a planned upgrade that improved campus-wide energy management. More broadly, Enel X’s monitoring across the Commonwealth identified operational savings, helped protect persistent savings by spotting issues quickly, and contributed to $2.6 million in annual low- and no-cost savings, while supporting better budgeting and capital planning.
