A Enel X Case Study
The Baltimore Regional Cooperative Purchasing Committee (BRCPC), a centralized purchasing group serving more than 21 public-sector organizations in the Baltimore region, needed a better way to lower electricity costs amid volatile energy markets. It turned to Enel X for energy supply management expertise to help reduce the cost per megawatt hour and improve how electricity was purchased.
Enel X helped BRCPC implement a wholesale electricity procurement strategy that combined purchasing power, unbundled supply, and reduced retail markups and risk premiums. By buying blocks of power directly from the wholesale market through a competitively selected retail supplier, BRCPC saves more than $11 million annually, while also gaining greater price stability, improved control, and a more flexible energy portfolio.
