Linamar Makes Demand Response a Green Initiative at 25 Manufacturing Sites

Linamar Corporation, an Ontario-based automotive and industrial equipment manufacturer, needed a way to reduce energy use without disrupting production or compromising employee safety. As its operations grew across 25 facilities in Ontario, the company turned to Enel X and the IESO Demand Response Auction program to find a tailored approach that fit its manufacturing needs.

Enel X implemented a site-specific demand response strategy using non-operational curtailment measures such as reducing office air conditioning, dimming lights, and adjusting air cycle schedules. This allowed Linamar to provide 2.4 MW of energy reduction and earn hundreds of thousands of dollars annually, while maintaining operational continuity and strengthening its sustainability efforts.
