Case Study: Gillette Stadium boosts energy savings and demand response earnings with Enel X

A Enel X Case Study

Preview of the Gillette Stadium Case Study

Inside Gillette Stadium’s Demand-Side Energy Strategy

Gillette Stadium, the 1.9 million-square-foot pro sports venue in Foxborough, MA, needed a better way to manage energy costs while maintaining flexibility and reliability during peak grid conditions. Working with Enel X, the stadium used a demand response strategy and utility bill management support to help reduce electricity expenses and streamline oversight across more than 80 utility accounts.

Enel X helped Gillette Stadium create a demand response plan that temporarily shuts down select HVAC units, non-essential lighting, and some water chillers when called upon, earning standby and performance payments in return. Since 2017, Gillette Stadium has earned more than $100K through these programs, while also lowering capacity charges and simplifying bill processing through Enel X’s automated utility data collection, reporting, and ENERGY STAR uploads.
