Enel X’s Energy Intelligence Software helps Grand Prairie Independent School District earn an A+ for efficiency

The Grand Prairie Independent School District (GPISD) faced the challenge of managing soaring energy costs across its vast and growing campus infrastructure. Without access to real-time energy data, Energy Manager Jerry Palermo lacked the tools to efficiently monitor consumption and identify savings opportunities. Seeking a technological solution, the district partnered with vendor Enel X to implement its energy intelligence software.

Enel X's solution provided real-time energy monitoring capabilities and enrolled GPISD in demand response programs to generate revenue. This allowed the district to fund the software and achieve significant savings through immediate identification of waste, measurement of project savings, and verification of system performance. The partnership with Enel X resulted in approximately $500,000 in annual energy cost avoidance, a 14% decrease in energy spend per student, and earned 37 of its 39 schools ENERGY STAR certification.
