Tampa Electric Company, a major utility serving the Tampa Bay area, needed a reliable and environmentally responsible way to manage rising system demand and control peak costs. After evaluating demand response options for its DSM portfolio, it selected Enel X and its turnkey Networked Demand Response service to help deliver targeted load reductions across commercial and industrial customers.
Enel X designed, implemented, and managed the demand response program end to end, including customer recruitment, site enablement, dispatch, and verification. The program was approved by regulators and, in testing, delivered an average of 31.7 MW in a two-hour audit window—about 12% above the nominated amount—giving Tampa Electric a dependable resource for reducing peak demand and improving system reliability.
