Enel X Helps State Government Achieve $165K Cost Savings

The State Government worked with Enel X, a provider of software-enabled energy supply management and advisory services, to competitively source electricity and manage energy supply contracts. After selecting a 36-month fixed-price contract for more than 200 accounts across 18 agencies, the State faced a challenge when new renewable portfolio standard regulations changed the cost and accounting requirements for solar energy purchases.

Enel X identified that the State was being charged for increased solar requirements without receiving proper credit for reduced obligations tied to existing solar generation. Enel X then worked with the electricity provider to correct the accounting error and negotiate current market pricing for solar renewable energy credits, helping the State Government achieve $0.47/MWh in savings, or approximately $165K in FY17.
