Leggett & Platt, a diversified Fortune 500 manufacturer with energy-intensive facilities across the U.S., was looking for a reliable way to participate in demand response while managing one of its largest controllable costs: electricity. The company needed a partner with national reach, deep DR expertise, and energy intelligence software to help evaluate opportunities across multiple manufacturing sites, including locations in Texas and Illinois.
Enel X implemented a customized demand response program using its energy intelligence software and on-site support to baseline usage, define curtailment strategies, and coordinate dispatches. Leggett & Platt now reduces load by more than 12 MW overall—about 900 kW from Texas facilities and over 11 MW from its Sterling, Illinois rod mill—and earns approximately $400,000 annually from Enel X while helping stabilize the grid during peak demand.
