Sunglasses Internationale Gets Rid of Private Carrier Surcharges

Sunglasses Internationale, a Florida-based online retailer run by Paul Primeaux, originally relied on private carriers to ship dozens of sunglasses brands from his home but grew frustrated with mounting surcharges and “junk fees” that were eating into margins. He needed a more cost-effective, efficient shipping solution for the many lightweight orders his business produces.

In 2005 Primeaux found Endicia and switched to online postage with the U.S. Postal Service®, allowing him to print postage and labels from his computer, sync orders, process shipments individually or in batches, and access discounted domestic and international USPS rates, parcel insurance, and electronic tracking. The move eliminated most private carrier fees and, within a few years, Sunglasses Internationale began shipping 85% of its orders via online postage—reducing costs and streamlining fulfillment with no minimums or complex setup.
