Goodwill Industries of San Francisco, San Mateo and Marin Counties operates traditional thrift stores while expanding an eCommerce channel launched in 2006 to support its mission of creating jobs and services. As online sales of books, media and other items climbed from a few orders a day to peaks of about 1,000, the team found manual fulfillment — roughly five minutes per order to weigh, enter shipping and print packing slips — unsustainable.
To scale, Goodwill integrated DYMO Endicia’s Label Server into its order workflow, eliminating re-entry and generating postage in about five seconds per order. The change saved over 4½ minutes per shipment, enabled daily USPS consolidated pickup and automated notifications and customs forms, supporting nearly 100% online sales growth and helping the eCommerce program stay on track to exceed its $2.5M annual revenue goal.
