Allen Theatres, a movie theater chain operating eleven facilities across New Mexico, needed a way to reduce peak electrical demand and HVAC energy use without sacrificing guest comfort in hot summer conditions. The company also wanted better load data, easier load management, and reliable participation in demand response events. Encycle implemented staggered HVAC startup and networked load control across the theater portfolio, allowing systems to respond more efficiently to occupancy and outdoor temperature changes. The solution helped Allen Theatres save an average of $35,361 annually, reduce HVAC electricity consumption by 52,012 kWh per site, and lower average monthly peak electric demand by 26 kW per site, or 15%. The customer also qualified for utility incentives from El Paso Electric, PNM, and Xcel Energy.
